I did the 2nd two portions of the J-athlon today (indoors) and did it in 1:42 . I really need to improve my walking time. My biking time is improving but even jogging 1/4 a lap at a time I need to improve upon my walking time. Before race time I need to get these two parts under 1:15. That means I have nine months to improve. I have a couple ideas up my sleeve. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Mark and I have started a 100 mile challenge. We were going to use nike+ to record it but it works for shit. So now I am going to use http://www.workoutdump.com. The first one to walk or run 100 miles wins. We have a bet of a dinner at a fancy restaurant called Fogo De Chao but anyone can enter. We can bet something or we can do it for fun.

The J-athlon is now officially a Sprint Triathlon. It is shorter and easier and will be a bit more competitive. I hope to get more people involved by making it easier.

Everyone involved I would like to change the date for the J-Athlon. Currently it is scheduled for August 22nd and I would like to move it up to August 8th. I would like to take a trip to Wisconsin next summer to see some friends and visit Noah’s Ark Water Park. It is the largest waterpark in the USA. I will not be able to go before the race cause training will be too important. I can’t go after because that puts me too close to Labor Day. If anyone has a real objection please let me know. I don’t want to make it harder for anyone but its only two weeks. If you aren’t ready by the 8th you won’t be by the 22nd.

OK I have been walking daily along with swimming every other day and lifting every day. The way is coming off quite well(I assume since I am losing inches). So on Monday Aug 25th I am officially starting the J-Athlon Couch to 5K Challenge. Anyone who wants to join feel free. There is no prize or anything its just something to feel better about yourself. For those who can already do it congrats, for those who can’t. Good Luck.

Looks like we will be road running. That seems like the safest bet for all involved. Except for all those zooming cars.
I am going to start a couch to 5k Challenge next week if anyone wants to join. Basically its a 9 week plan to get you to be able to run 5k. I tried to start it but couldn’t complete the first phase. I am hoping to by next week. Link is in the links section.

Would people prefer to road run or track run? I am starting to map out the course based on using the pool and I figured I’d give people the option.
So far everything is coming along well training wise. I know a few of the others have started training. I am trying to get a few more people to enter. I have two more possibilities but we will have to see. Remember we still need people to volunteer to help as well so bring your spouses, kids, friends.

We now have a 4th entrant into the J-Athlon, Paul Yasi. Paul just went and bought a new bike to train with. He got pedals with clips. I have never been able to figure out how those are more effective. I know they are, I just can not figure out how.
I may have found a lake to swim in for the J-Athlon. I have to go check it out and see if I can get the distance of it. We are at five people now. If we go past 8 the pool won’t be enough.

We have our 3rd entrant into the J-Athlon. Please go and check our Chuck’s page. If you don’t find it hysterical then their is definitely something wrong with you. Chuck will be a good entrant because he will keep me company.
If anyone finds any good training site links please let me know and I will add them. Hope some people have started training.

I have two official entrants into the J-Athlon, Mark and Ethan. Ethan has answered my questions and submiited a picture so he has a page up. Mark will as soon as I get his info.
People have been asking me about location and to be honest I haven’t figured it all out yet. I probably won’t know the path for the run and the cycling until next spring. I am going to find the areas by riding them. I will let people know it should be all road or bike path, no trails or anything resembling off road biking.
I have gotten several comments via IM about the page. Please post suggestions, compliments, complaints, anything you want. I welcome feedback. This is a work in progress so bare with me.
Until next time, keep training.
